DeNomie inducted into Pius XI Hall of Fame

The Eighth Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was held in Milwaukee at the PIUS XI High School Field House during September with several new inductees, including Bad River Chippewa tribal member Jim DeNomie

DeNomie 61’ graduated as one of the most accomplished athletes in Pius XI track history. He was a four time gold and two time silver State Meet medalist in his three Pius XI varsity seasons; ‘59 – Anchor First Place Medley Relay Team; ‘60 – Silver 880 yard run & gold as third leg on record-setting championship sprint relay team; ‘61 – silver 440 yard run, gold in 880 yard run & sprint relay. All three events were new state records.

DeNomie was the Pope’s first sub two-minute half mile runner who went undefeated as a senior and established a state record time of 1:57.7. Pius XI High School, located in Milwaukee, is a Catholic, co-educational high school dedicated to the intellectual, physical and spiritual growth of a diverse student body in a personalized and caring environment.
