Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin (AP) 1-09
The Lac du Flambeau Chippewa band plans a major overhaul of its water system with the help of $1.2 million in grants from the federal government.
About $1 million of the money will go for the water project, including an expansion of the system and five new wells to be constructed this summer. The rural development funds come from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The rest of the money is to go to the tribes development arm.
Tribal leaders said the grants are the result of years of hard work to get funding for big improvements on the reservation.
