Fort Peck tribal councilman charged with 2nd DUI

Billings, Montana (AP) August 2012

A member of the Fort Peck tribal council has been charged with DUI and obstructing a peace officer just over three months after reaching a plea agreement calling for a deferred sentence for an earlier DUI.

The Billings Gazette reports (http://bit.ly/NI08iK ) 54-year-old Victor Michael Thompson was arrested on Aug. 6 by the Montana Highway Patrol, after an officer pulled Thompson over on Interstate 94 between Forsyth and Miles City.

Rosebud County Sheriff Randy Allies says Thompson also was charged with resisting arrest and for having an open container of alcohol.

On May 2, Thompson entered a plea agreement with the state stemming from an earlier DUI arrest near Terry. The state agreed to drop a felony charge of assaulting an officer and defer prosecution for three years if Thompson obeys all laws.
