Tribe prepares to open new casino near Tucson

Tucson, Arizona (AP) October 2011

The finishing touches are being applied to the $100 million Casino del Sol resort near Tucson.

The doors are expected to swing open Nov. 11. The Arizona Daily Star ( ) reports the Pascua Yaqui (PAHZ’-kwah YAH’-kee)-owned resort already has $1.5 million in convention commitments that could bring 700 to 1,000 participants to the resort.

It will take about 1,350 employees to run the hotel and casino.

Residents living near the casino say they hope it will bring prosperity to their southern Arizona community.
