Cherokee’s NC casino hiring 500 for expansion

Cherokee, North Carolina (AP) August 2012

North Carolina’s only casino has hundreds of jobs to fill and is looking for table game dealers, bartenders, housekeepers and others.

The Cherokee casino near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is holding a second day-long job fairs. Employers are willing to train some workers without experience.

The new agreement finalized in June between the state of North Carolina and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians allows the casino managed by Caesar’s Entertainment Corp. to offer traditional table games.

A tribal leader said at the time things would be operating within 90 days.
