Join LCO Chair Mic Isham, Wisconsin Tourism Secretary Stephanie Klett, Dr. Richard St. Germaine and Faith Smith celebrating and discussing the opening of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe's' refurbished Kinnamon School Museum and Visitors Center.
The building was refurbished over the course of the last two years after falling into disrepair when it was abandoned as a public school in the 1960s. St. Germaine explains that the introduction of the public school education on the LCO reservation, in Wisconsin and Minnesota put Indians in the Great Lakes several steps ahead in the educational and inculturation process and helped tribes focus on the first steps into the Johnson-O'Malley tribally controlled school era.
