Mark Trahant is the Editorial Page Editor for the Seattle Post Intelligencer in Seattle, Washington. He is also a member of the Shoshone Bannock tribe and the Native American Journalists Association. Trahant in 2004, during another UNITY convention in Washington, D.C. was allowed the one question by the NAJA delegation there during President George Bush's re-election campaign.

The answer from Bush, about what the meaning of tribal sovereignty meant to the Bush Administration, elicited one of the more interesting responses of the campaign season.

In the following video interview, Trahant says one of the most important changes in presidential elections that he has seen this year is the involvement of Native Americans in policy making positions within various campaigns. Trahant also feels that Indian Country could be a deciding factor in this year's election of the President of the United States.
