Produced by Nick Vander Puy
Dr. Adams is Coast Salish from the Sliammon Band near Powell, British Columbia. His dad is a chief who never graduated from school, but encouraged his son to go to medical school. During late April Dr. Adams spoke at the Lac Courte Oreilles Community College in northwestern Wisconsin about community health. Now, he monitors aboriginal health in British Columbia. But like the character Thomas Build-The-Fire he's still a pretty funny and goofy guy. "We demand equal access to health care."

Twelve years ago Evan Adams, playing Thomas Build-The-Fire, starred in the popular Sherman Alexie movie, SMOKE SIGNALS. The movie was a small budget production, but went on to earn $30 million.
