The movie "Flow," was recently shown as part of the LCO College's environmental film series.
Interviews with scientists and activists intelligently reveal the
rapidly building crisis, at both the global and human scale, and the
film introduces many of the governmental and corporate culprits behind
the water grab, while begging the question "Can anyone really own the water?" White talks about the importance of water, a woman's responsibility to care for it, and the dangers of selling water for profit. "Plans to process tar sands oil near Lake Superior infuriate me."

The Catholic mystic Thomas Merton wrote in the 1960's, "Let me say this before rain becomes a utility that they can plan and distribute for money. By "they" I mean the people who cannot understand that rain is a festival, who do not appreciate it's gratuity, who think that what has no price has no value, that what cannot be sold is not real, so that the only place to make something actual is to place it on the market. The time will come when they will sell you even your rain."
