Seattle, Washington (AP) November 2010
The sound on a police car video shows that a Seattle officer fired fatal shots four seconds after ordering a man to drop a knife.
The Seattle Times reports the audio and pictures taken from the video are among court documents filed in relation to the Aug. 30 shooting of John T. Williams. The 50-year-old Native American wood carver who was intoxicated when he was spotted and stopped by Officer Ian Birk.
The paper reported the documents were filed last week by Tim Ford, a lawyer representing Williams family in an upcoming inquest.
The officers lawyer, Tim Buck, says the new materials dont tell the whole story of the shooting.
The materials were filed for a hearing in which Ford is asking for a city attorney to appear at the inquest.
