Woman to plead guilty in crash that killed sister

Fargo, North Dakota (AP) April 2011

A North Dakota woman accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that killed her younger sister says she will plead guilty.

Carolynn Bigtrack is charged in federal court with involuntary manslaughter and three counts of assault resulting in serious bodily injury. The accident happened in April 2010 on the Spirit Lake Indian Reservation.

Authorities say the 19-year-old Bigtrack lost control of her vehicle and it skidded into the other lane and struck an oncoming vehicle. Bigtrack’s 16-year-old sister, Mary Feather Bigtrack, died later in the day at a Devils Lake hospital.

Two other passengers in Bigtrack’s vehicle and the driver of the other vehicle were seriously injured.

A sentencing date has not been scheduled.
