A New Mexico couple has pleaded guilty to charges arising from the death of a 7-month-old child on Fort Bliss, near El Paso.
A U.S. attorneys statement says 30-year-old Thelton Andres Riley Jr. pleaded guilty to one count of felony murder and faces up to life in federal prison. The childs 30-year-old mother, Leesa Trujillo, pleaded guilty to single counts of involuntary manslaughter and injury to a child. She faces up to 10 years in federal prison when she and Riley are sentenced in an El Paso federal court in July.
The statement says the child was abused from the time when the three were living on a New Mexico Indian reservation until the child died on Fort Bliss in August 2009.
