Jury convicts Niobrara man of sexual assault

Omaha, Nebraska (AP) June 2011

A federal jury has convicted a 49-year-old Niobrara man of sexual assault.

A news release from the office of U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says Larry Rouillard was tried before Senior U.S. District Judge Lyle Strom in Omaha and was found guilty on last week.

Sentencing is set for Aug. 25.

Prosecutors say the FBI and Santee Sioux Tribal Police investigated Rouillard after a woman reported a possible rape the night of May 29, 2010. She told officers that she and Rouillard had been drinking that night and early the next morning.

The news release says Rouillard admitted having sex with the woman while she was passed out.
