Developer, tribe to resolve issues over Skywalk

Arbitration hearings are set to begin between the Hualapai Tribe and a developer over a resort at the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

The disagreement is over the $30 million Skywalk bridge that juts out over the Grand Canyon and a visitor center.

The Kingman Daily Miner reports each side is claiming the other is not upholding its part of the original contract. The tribe claims that developer David Jin has not finished the Skywalk visitor center.

Jin claims the tribe has reneged on paying him his fair share of the proceeds from the Skywalk and has prevented him from finishing the visitor’s center by issuing stop work orders.

Jin alleges the tribe is trying to run him out of business so they can take over the Skywalk through eminent domain.
