Probation and restitution ordered in Oglala theft case

Rapid City, South Dakota (AP) 9-07

A former treasurer for the Oglala Sioux Tribe must repay nearly $10,000 and serve five years of probation for stealing from the tribe.

David Rabbit Sr., 41, had pleaded guilty earlier in federal court to a charge of theft from a tribal organization for failing to repay payroll advances.

Two co-defendants, Kim Colhoff and former tribal vice president Eileen Janis, are scheduled for trial Oct. 23.
