The investigation of a large drug ring on the Pine Ridge Reservation has netted another two convictions.

Reyes Martinez, 54, of Ft. Lupton, Colorado, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than 5 kilograms, or 11 pounds, of cocaine.

Jean Merrival, also known as Chick, pleaded guilty to the same charge and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Martinez and Merrival acknowledged that they supplied cocaine to Geraldine Blue Bird and her coconspirators, according to court documents.

They and more than two dozen other people have been sentenced for their part in the cocaine operation. Blue Bird was sentenced to 34 years in prison but most of those involved have been sentenced to 10 years.
