North Dakota man sentenced for assault on federal officer

Minot, North Dakota (AP) April 2010

A 21-year-old Dunseith man has been sentenced to four months in prison and four months of home confinement for assaulting a federal law officer.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lynn Jordheim says a knife-wielding William Rosenberg charged a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer who was responding to a domestic incident on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in November 2008.

Jordheim says Rosenberg shoved the officer and scuffled with him before being restrained.

Rosenberg will be on supervised release for two years following his confinement on a charge of assaulting and resisting a federal officer
