FBI investigates girl’s body found on reservation

Ethete, Wyoming (AP) April 2010

Federal and local authorities are investigating the death of a 13-year-old girl whose body was found along a roadside on the Wind River Reservation.

Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan says the body was found April 7 afternoon a few miles east of Ethete. The body will be taken to Loveland, Colo., for an autopsy to determine cause of death.

McAuslan hasn’t release the girl’s name, but says she’s an American Indian. He says suicide is not being considered as the cause of death.

FBI spokesman Dave Joly in Denver says the FBI is sending extra investigators to assist its local agents in Lander.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs and Wind River Police Department are also participating in the investigation.
