No info on cause of Wyoming girl’s death

Riverton, Wyo. April 2010

Officials have no word yet on what killed a 13-year-old girl found dead on the Wind River Indian Reservation.

Fremont County Coroner Ed McAuslan said Friday that it could take weeks to get a final report from an autopsy that took place last week.

Family members have identified the girl as Marisa Spoonhunter, an eighth-grader at Wyoming Indian Middle School. They say she was last seen at a powwow in Arapahoe.

Authorities say the body was found near Ethete. They won’t confirm the girl’s identity or say whether it appears she was the victim of foul play.

The FBI is leading the investigation and has sent extra investigators to assist local agents.
