Two make court appearances in separate Poplar deaths

Great Falls, Montana (AP) July 2010

Two suspects have pleaded not guilty in separate stabbing deaths in Poplar.

Curtis Eder is accused of killing a soldier home on leave on the Fourth of July. Investigators say the 21-year-old Eder stabbed Ryan Buckles, who was also 21, multiple times. Eder pleaded not guilty during July 6 to murder and aggravated assault in Fort Peck Tribal Court.

Buckles, an Army specialist, was to be deployed to Afghanistan and was home for a week before he was killed.

Also in the tribal court, Bernetta Walking Eagle pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in the stabbing death of 49-year-old Charles Crazy Bull on June 26. Investigators say Crazy Bull died in a hospital after being stabbed in the chest.
