Feds cracking down on child predators

Phoenix, Arizona (AP) August 2010

Federal prosecutors are announcing expanded efforts aimed at fighting the sexual exploitation of Arizona’s children.

U.S. Attorney Dennis Burke says the government is focusing on online sexual exploitation and more prosecutors will address the sexual exploitation of children on Indian reservations.

As part of the overall strategy, the U.S. Marshals Service is launching a nationwide operation targeting the top 500 most dangerous, noncompliant sex offenders in the nation.

The department is creating a national database to allow federal, state, tribal, local and international law enforcement partners to collaborate and engage in undercover operations, share information and intelligence and conduct analysis on dangerous offenders and future threats and trends.
