Chippewa agency official sentenced for theft

Bismarck, North Dakota (AP) August 2010

A longtime employee of the Belcourt Public Utilities Commission has been sentenced for stealing from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa agency.

Acting U.S. Attorney Lynn Jordheim says 45-year-old Nancy Laducer was sentenced to two years of probation, including 10 months of home detention with electronic monitoring. She also was ordered to pay $35,000 in restitution.

Laducer pleaded guilty last May to taking money and allowing others to take money without paying it back. Jordheim says missing deposits totaled almost $245,000.

Laducer was employed with the tribal agency for 23 years before being fired.
