FBI: No charges in death of Croff outside Glacier National Park

East Glacier, Montana (AP) August 2010

The FBI says no charges will be filed in the case of a well-known Native American dancer and singer who died along a roadway just outside the eastern edge of Glacier National Park.

Park officials described 30-year-old Clinton Croff of Browning as “combative and suffering from multiple wounds” just before he died July 29. Few other details have been released, including how Croff was injured.

Park rangers say they subdued the man, but he collapsed and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

Debbie Dujanovic of the FBI’s Salt Lake City office said during August the agency’s investigation, which was opened at the request of the National Park Service, was complete.

Maynard Kicking Woman, a cultural coordinator for the Blackfeet Manpower One-Stop Center, says Croff is going to be missed in Indian Country because a lot of people knew him.
