Radmanesh letter does not represent the position of the Modern Whig Party

Dear Editor,

Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is George Mills and I am currently the state chairman for the Missouri Chapter of the Modern Whig Party. I am writing to you in regards of the letter written by Darius Radmanesh about president-elect Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. The article is called “Obama has no intention of protecting Native rights.”

I want to say that the Modern Whig Party did not endorse this view about president-elect Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. The statement that Mr. Radmanesh provided was that of his own opinion and not that of the Modern Whig Party. The only thing we can agree with about Mr. Radmanesh comment is that we, the Modern Whigs, represent America's independent thinkers and it does not matter what ethic group, creed, or religion they come from. We support Americans who want to build a strong America. We believe that everybody has the same equal rights.

The Modern Whig Party was founded by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. We have over 20,000 members and about half are affiliated with military. We are the original party of Abraham Lincoln and four other U.S Presidents. As being one of oldest parties in America, we represent middle-of-the-road voters from all walks of life who cherry-pick between traditional Democratic and Republican ideas. In most of our history, we were concerned with promoting internal improvements, such as roads, canals, railroads, deepening of rivers and banking systems.

Today, the Modern Whigs are the fastest-growing non-fringe party. Similar to our predecessors, we believe in the same principles but in a modern sense. Energy independence, bold social progression, national security, environmental protection, and immigration are a few of these examples.

We, the Modern Whigs, want our fellow Americans to know that we are for all the American people and not the selected few. We are "a party for the rest of us". The Whigs are back, and we are on the move and growing.

George Mills
Missouri Chairman
Modern Whig Party
