Tribal gaming contributions to the state are off by 3.5 percent.

The Arizona Department of Gaming said during early May it received $21.3 million in tribal contributions from gambling revenue for the quarter that ended March 31.

Gaming department director Mark Brnovich said gaming operations are making a comeback from a tough economy.

Brnovich said tribes made significant investments in updated facilities and technologies to provide more entertainment options for patrons.

The money from tribal casinos funds education, trauma and emergency services, the Department of Gaming, conservation, tourism and problem gambling education programs.
