Mohave High School teacher dies in auto crash

Fort Mohave, Arizona (AP) Febuary 2011

A western Arizona high school teacher has been killed in an auto accident. The Mohave Daily News reports 29-year-old Valerie Palermo died last week at a hospital in Fort Mohave south of Bullhead City.

Fort Mohave Tribal Police say Palermo was riding in a sports car when the car left the roadway and flipped over.

Authorities say the Mohave High School teacher was transported to a local hospital where she later died.

Police say the driver, 32-year-old Robert Day, was taken to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The hospital said he was in fair condition.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The Daily News says classes at Mohave High School were let out early as students learned of the accident.
