Northeast SD tribe gets grant for community center

An Indian tribe in Minnesota has given $500,000 to help the Sisseton-Wahpeton Oyate (oh-YAH-tay) build a new community center in northeast South Dakota.
The tribes community center in Enemy Swim has a satellite police station, meeting space for chemical dependency aftercare, and provides health services, meals for the elderly, and youth activities.
The grant comes from the Shakopee Mdewakanton (mehd-WAH-kuh-tuhn) Sioux Community, which operates Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minn., has other enterprises and runs a charitable giving program.
