Deal allows parole officers on Soboba reservation

San Jacinto, California (AP) 8-08

California authorities have reversed a decision ordering five parolees to move out of the Soboba Reservation.

State Division of Adult Parole Operations officials met with the Soboba Tribal Council and a deal was struck allowing unannounced, unescorted parole agent checks.

Parolees were told to move off the reservation because of escalating violence between the San Jacinto tribe and law enforcement.

The Soboba tribe and the Riverside County SheriffÂ’s Department have been at odds since three tribal members were killed in shootouts with deputies.
