An event held annually to commemorate the memory of Oklahomans Will Rogers and Wiley Post this year included a focus on the father of Rogers.

A stone memorial marker was dedicated to Clem Rogers as part of a Will Rogers-Wiley Post Fly-In to mark the 73rd anniversary of the deaths of Rogers and Post in Alaska.

Clem Rogers was a Cherokee Nation representative on a commission that helped write the state Constitution and Rogers County is named in his honor.

The memorial is sponsored by the Oklahoma Centennial Commission and its cost was paid for out of Rogers County’s allotment of centennial funds.

The Fly-In is held each year to honor Post and Rogers who died August 15th, 1935, when their airplane crashed near Point Barrow, Alaska.
