Wampanoag, pilgrim headed to Children’s Hospital

Patients at Children’s Hospital in Boston are getting an extra treat this Thanksgiving.

An anonymous Cape Cod man who paid $5,000 in on online auction to have two historical interpreters from Plimoth Plantation attend his holiday dinner will instead send Wampanoag Indian Hobbamock and pilgrim Edward Winslow to the hospital’s annual Thanksgiving celebration on Nov. 26.

A hospital spokeswoman says the man drew on his own memories of a Thanksgiving he celebrated at the hospital with a sick child.

Spokeswoman Michelle Davis says the gift will lift the spirits of patients and their families.

Plimoth Plantation is a living history museum with a settlers’ village that recreates everyday life among the Pilgrims in 1627.
