A tribal election by the Mashantucket Pequots has resulted in the unseating of former Tribal Council Chairman Kenny Reels.

Some members of the tribe, which owns and operates the Foxwoods Resort Casino, say the Nov. 1st election is a call for new blood on the tribe’s governing body.

James Jackson, the 43-year-old executive director of enterprise technology for the tribe, unseated Reels, who had been vice chairman for the past three years and on the council for nearly two decades.

Richard Sebastian was also re-elected to the tribal council in the seven-way race for two seats. He then won a second election to replace Reels as vice chairman.

Next year, Tribal Chairman Michael Thomas will be up for re-election.
