Results of Seminole election upheld 5-24-07

MIAMI (AP) - The Seminole Tribe of Florida upheld its election results Thursday after holding an emergency meeting to consider challenges.

All challenges were considered and denied and all results from the May 14 election were upheld, Seminole Tribe spokesman Gary Bitner said in a statement.

Incumbent Mitchell Cypress' re-election was challenged by his opponent, Moses Osceola. Cypress received 600 votes and Osceola had received 500.

Richard Bowers' election as president of the Board of Directors was also upheld.

The Election Board also held a recount for the Brighton/Tampa reservation representative, but upheld the original results, which were 100 votes for Andrew Bowers Jr., and 101 for Roger Smith.
