Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence is officially looking for a new president.
Larry Echo Hawk, U.S. assistant secretary for Indian affairs, says Linda Warner has accepted another job with the Bureau of Indian Education.
Warner was appointed Haskell president in 2007. But she was sent to another job in September 2009 and has never returned to the campus in Lawrence.
Federal officials never disclosed the reasons for sending Warner off campus. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that she had clashed with some faculty and staff over work rules and plans for more programs.
Haskells Board of Regents twice voted no confidence in Warner, saying she didnt properly communicate with them and tried to usurp the authority of the regents.
