Two tribes in South Dakota will participate in a federal program to improve eating habits through nutrition education programs.

The Rosebud Sioux Tribe will receive $94,000 and the Oglala Sioux Tribe $75,366.

The program from the U.S. Agriculture Department provides $1 million to 15 applicants in 10 states.

The USDA said programs chosen for grants this year include community gardens, a summer camp to teach healthy cooking techniques to youngsters, and a compilation of recipes, menus and snacks that incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
